The First Call Running Club is dedicated to promoting good health through distance running. Our events are low key, designed for those who are fairly self sufficient. There are water/Gatorade stops along the way, where you can refill your bottle (no cups on the course). There is food at the start/finish area provided by the club and by potluck donation. There is no cost run. Donations are appreciated, and these keep our runs going. Donations are used to pay for event costs, ie permits, insurance, food, supplies, improvements for future races etc. Left over funds are donated to charity. We are a chartered group of the RRCA. Annual Dues (donation) of $25 is requested for club membership.

Call of the Wild Marathon/50K May 23, 2009

Welcome to the Call of the Wild Marathon and 50K. This will be held on the Sammamish River Trail which is a paved trail along the Sammamish river, just north of Seattle. Flat and scenic, the trail follows the river from Bothell to Marymore park. Here you will find information about the upcoming run in May, as well as our prior run on Jan 1. Host is Adrian Call, who can be contacted at gottarun26.2@comcast.net

The course will be measured by bicycle odometer and GPS, which should be accurate, but not a certified course. The course will open at 7:00 am and close at 1:00 pm. Early Start will be at 6:00 am. This is intended to be a fun run, and count toward marathon maniac and other tallies.

Fees: None, but a donation is welcomed to help cover aid station costs and the breakfast bar. You can donate here through Pay Pal, or at the run.

Registration: E-mail me with your name, city and state, gender, age, the distance you plan to run, and if you want to start at 6 am or 7 am, or 8 am for half marathoners - at gottarun26.2@comcast.net
Volunteers: This is a fun run, and we need to work together to make it work. I hope that we have some family/friends who can help. Some ideas of volunteering activities: TIMERS. Perhaps 1 hour shifts to be at the finish line and see that finish times are recorded. Phone Help on course....We need to have a few carry cell phones, and everyone needs to watch out for anyone who may need help or assistance. Photos: Its always fun to have photos afterwards. Any help here is great, hopefully we'll have some fun photos to post and share afterwards. Bicycle support: there may be some friends/family who could do a sweep or two. Finish area help: a little help to make sure the finishers are ok and make it to the food table. (Seems like most marathoners find the food table pretty quick) Again, this is a fun run, lets make it fun by watching out for and helping those around you. It will be as fun as we make it. I'm going to start the early start group at 6, so that I can finish and help with breakfast by 1030ish. Linda Barton will start the 7 am group, and Crissie O'Brien will start the 8 am half marathon group.

Who's coming? Here's the latest list of registered, runners. email me to update your status.

Please carry a water bottle, and please don't litter. Please carry trash to the next aid station and place in appropriate container. I'll have fluids to refill your water bottles.
